What is your athletic background?
Aside from short stint on the high school wrestling team, not much
What was your workout routine prior to CF Spero?
I did about 6-7 months of strength training in a big-box gym.
How much weight have you lost since you began?
4-5 pounds. My midsection has slimmed down a bit
How has CrossFit influenced your mental health?
CrossFit definitely helps me get to sleep easier and keeps me relaxed.
How has CrossFit impacted your physical health?
Better endurance is a big change. My core strength has improved significantly.
What positive changes have you noticed in your life since starting CrossFit?
Going to Spero after work is such a great stress reliever. After sitting in front of a computer screen all day, it feels great to break a sweat and move around.
What was your first experience with CrossFit?
Spero is my first Crossfit gym. My wife had to drag me to the gym to go.
When did you start CF?
I started with an Olympic weightlifting class at Spero in February
Why did you choose CF Spero?
Spero has a great location and my wife and I both really enjoy working with the coaches and our fellow members.
What keeps you coming back?
It’s really satisfying to make progress with either a heavier lift or get through a WOD faster.
Where do you live and why?
We live in Oak Park just north of Spero. We moved to Oak Park for the schools and all the amenities the village offers.
What do you do for a living?
I’m an investigator for a consulting company. I conduct investigations and background checks mostly for corporate clients.
How do you like to spend your free time?
Aside from going to Spero, I like watching old movies and taking my wife out to dinner.
What do you like about Oak Park?
It’s such a nice little town with great parks and shops and still close to the city.
What are one or two improvements you have seen in your life since starting CF?
I don’t get winded as easily since I’ve started crossfit and my back doesn’t bother me nearly as much from all the sitting I do at work since I’ve started at Spero.
What are your goals for 2018?
One of my goals was to squat 300 pounds, which I achieved a few weeks ago. My next goal is to deadlift 350 pounds.
What would you say to someone thinking about starting CF?
It’s easy to think that you’ll be judged for starting crossfit and sucking at it. It’s actually the total opposite. Struggling at first is what’s supposed to happen.
What’s your favorite and least favorite CF movement?
Squats are my favorite movement. My least favorite is probably burpees.
What’s your favorite meal?
I’m a sucker for a good rib-eye.

My wife and I are expecting our first child any day now and we’re excited to bring our new baby to meet everyone at Spero!
