What is your athletic background? 

I used to play volleyball as a child, but stopped during high school and that was it, until I started CrossFit.

What was your workout routine prior to CF Spero?

I started CrossFit back in Argentina.

How much weight have you lost since you began? 

I  have lost around 20 lbs, but I don’t think the numbers on the scale really reflect the physical change.

How has CrossFit influenced your mental health? 

My mood has changed so much, I didn’t notice I was always in a bad mood until I started doing CrossFit consistently. Now I start my day with a morning class and I know I’m going to be happy all day, or if I can’t make it and the stress of the day puts me in a bad mood I know I just have to go to CrossFit and by the end of the warm up I’ll be smiling again.

How has CrossFit impacted your physical health? 

I am stronger than ever before, and have lots of energy.

What positive changes have you noticed in your life since starting CrossFit?

I feel stronger,and confident.

What was your first experience with CrossFit? 

I walked into a box back in Argentina 3 years ago, I was exhausted and was sure I was never going to feel good after a class.

When did you start CF? 

3 years ago!!

Why did you choose CF Spero? 

When I first moved to Oak Park I tried a couple of places, and Spero was the place where I felt more comfortable, everyone was very friendly.

What keeps you coming back? 

The people, both members and coaches, everyone is always friendly and positive.

Where do you live and why? 

I moved to Oak Park for my job.

What do you do for a living? 

I’m an Au pair.

How do you like to spend your free time? 

I like to spend time with friends, go to the movies or being with my family, and CrossFit of course.

What do you like about Oak Park? 

I love the community, also there is always something to do, and it’s close to the city.

What are one or two improvements you have seen in your life since starting CF?

I have way more energy, before CrossFit I would spend all my time on the couch watching tv, now I’m always doing something, I didn’t know it was possible to change so much.

What are your CrossFit goals? 

There are so many things I want to be able to do, but right now I want to do handstand push ups, it’s a work in progress though.

What would you say to someone thinking about starting CF? 

Do it! Go for it, give it a try and you’ll love it. Don’t feel intimidated, you don’t need to look a certain way to start CrossFit.

What’s your favorite and least favorite CF movement? 

My favorites are cleans, and squats, and my least favorites are burpees, and wall balls.

What’s your favorite meal?

I recently discovered pies, we don’t really eat pies in Argentina, and man are we missing out!!

Anything else you would like to share with the Spero family?

I guess just thank you, to both members and coaches, for being there every day, with smile on your face and a great attitude.
