What is your athletic background?

I played basketball competitively in high school and college.

 

What was your workout routine prior to CF Spero?

Immediately before joining CF Spero last summer, I had been doing P90X to try and get back into “shape”. I had been doing the program for about three months.

 

How much weight have you lost since you began?

I’ve lost about 28 pounds since I started crossfit.

 

What was your first experience with CrossFit?

I had gone to two “on ramp” sessions in Detroit back in 2013, but I didn’t really understand what it was all about.

 

When did you start CF?

I started with my wife Jennifer last June/July.

 

Why did you choose CF Spero?

I had been driving by the box on my way to work every day for a couple of months. I stopped in one day and asked about classes and the rest is history.

 

What keeps you coming back?

I love the community at CF Spero. People are really encouraging. Nobody cares what your background. They only care that you’re there trying to get better. The coaching is great and you have all levels of athletes, which makes being at CF Spero comfortable.

 

Why do you live in Oak Park?

Jenn and I moved to Illinois two years ago and fell in love with Oak Park. It reminds us of Ann Arbor, Michigan. There’s a ton of great restaurants and parks. We love being able to walk around the neighborhood and enjoy what the village has to offer.

 

What do you do for a living?

I am a communications consultant and a management coach.

 

How do you like to spend your free time?

I enjoy going to CF Spero. I also love to travel and cook.

 

What do you like about Oak Park?

We’re close to everything we need. We’re not in the city, but it’s close by. We’re in a smaller town that has all the amenities we’re looking for. It’s a culturally diverse community that cares about its residents. Oak Park is great.

 

What are one or two improvements you have seen in your life since starting CF?

I have a lot more energy and my mobility is light years from where it was when I first started.

 

What are your goals for 2016?

I plan on doing multiple muscle ups, 50 double unders unbroken, a handstand push up, a proper set of overhead squats at 105+ #s, be able to press my body weight over my head and deadlift 300+.

 

What would you say to someone thinking about starting CF?

Just do it! If you’re interested in learning how your body functions and reacts to different stimuli, crossfit is as good a laboratory to figure that out.

 

What’s your favorite and least favorite CF movement?

My favor movement is the pull up. My least favorite (a tie between) overhead squat and handstand push ups

 

What’s your favorite meal?

Paella!!!
