Going to the gym 3-5 times a week. Splits include shoulders and biceps, back and legs, and chest twice a week.
What was your first experience with CrossFit?
I would hear about athletes doing CrossFit and see their workout routines on YouTube. Eventually, videos of CrossFit started to pop up on my social media featuring Mat Fraser and Tia Toomey.
When did you start CrossFit?
September 2018
Why did you choose CF Spero?
I looked up the closest locations online to my home and work. I eventually stumbled upon the CF Spero website. I registered online, and within an hour or two, I got a call from Amy to stop by for a free consultation. After meeting with her, I got hustled! I respected her sales techniques since I am in sales, and I signed up for onboarding the same day.
What keeps you coming back?
I like to bully and complain to the coaches. Just kidding! I love the culture and the progress I’ve experienced. I enjoy talking to other members. I really believe in Spero being a family and not just a gym.
Why do you live in the Oak Park Area?
Chicago
What do you do for a living?
I have worked for AT&T for ten years. I have held multiple positions, including store manager in various locations such as Norridge, Elmhurst, and La Grange, area manager, and currently, I am in the business channel as an account executive. I support 400 business accounts for their wireless needs, including smartphones, tablets, fixed wireless, wireless backup, fleet management, and the Internet of Things.

I enjoy spending time with my family. I spend a lot of time with my parents and brothers. I have two beautiful nieces whom I spoil and try to see at least once a week.

Two improvements I have seen in my life are my mobility and cardiovascular fitness, which have both gotten better.
What is the biggest change you have seen since starting CrossFit at Spero?
The biggest change I have seen is that my form has gotten better for every barbell movement. The time spent in class, with the barbell, or in personal training has been beneficial, and I have been hitting PRs consistently this year.
What are your goals for 2025?
To end Taylor Swift music at CF Spero.
What's your least favorite movement?
Burpees!
What's your favorite meal?
Tacos seven days a week.

I want to visit Japan. I would love to go to Kyoto and Tokyo to see both old and new tourist sites. Mount Fuji is at the top of my list, along with some Mario Kart racing in Tokyo.
What are three hobbies or things you like to do outside of the gym?
I enjoy going to different sports stadiums in different states or countries. I collect retro Jordans like the Jordan 1, Jordan IV, and my favorite, the Air Max 1. I’m also looking into buying a new boat for next summer. Owning a boat and going to the lake weekly is one of the best calming stress relievers.
What would you say to someone thinking about starting CrossFit at Spero?
I would say don’t give up. CrossFit is not easy, and it was challenging for me, especially after coming from standard gym sessions. Don’t be scared to talk to and ask for help. The coaches have been incredibly helpful, and members have also given feedback that has helped me.
Anything else you would like to share with the Spero Family?
“If you can dodge a wrench. You can dodge a Wall Ball”
