What is your athletic background?
As a kid I attended summer camps and after school programs that introduced me to various sports and weight training.
What was your workout routine prior to CF Spero?
How much weight have you lost since you began?
Haven’t kept track of any weight loss. But I definitely know I’ve gained a lot of strength.
How has CrossFit influenced your mental health?
Crossfit has helped me break down so many mental barriers. There’s been plenty of times I wanted to give up and not run another step or lift another rep. But I’ve learned to ignore that voice and keep pushing!
How has CrossFit impacted your physical health?
Finally seeing some definition in my calves. Probably from all the running and jumping rope.
What positive changes have you noticed in your life since starting CrossFit?
I’ve stepped out of my comfort zone in many different areas of my life.
What was your first experience with CrossFit?
My first experience was the free trial class I attended 2 years ago.
When did you start CF?
I started in March of this year.
Why did you choose CF Spero?
It’s close to where I live and even closer to where I work.
What keeps you coming back?
The coaches are amazing, the members are encouraging and I’m always being pushed beyond my limits.
Where do you live and why?
I live in North Riverside. I moved here to be closer to work.
What do you do for a living?
I’m a manager at a fitness club.
How do you like to spend your free time?
Most of my free time is spent meal prepping or searching for new recipes.
What do you like about Oak Park?
It’s such a family oriented place to live with so much diversity.
What are one or two improvements you have seen in your life since starting CF?
My air squats have improved big time!
What are your goals for 2018?
My career goal is to be promoted to Operations Manager (stay tuned.) My fitness goals are to complete any number of unbroken double unders and do my very first pull-up.
What would you say to someone thinking about starting CF?
I’d say it’s a total life changer. It’s about testing your capabilities and surrounding yourself with others who motivate you.
What’s your favorite and least favorite CF movement?
Back squats have surprisingly become my favorite movement. Least favorite are burpees, of course!
What’s your favorite meal?
Waffles…waffles are a must at breakfast time.
