How has CrossFit impacted your physical health?
I feel stronger and healthier than I have in years. Unfortunately, my blood pressure hasn’t yet gotten get the message that I’m on a journey of healthy changes.
What positive changes have you noticed in your life since starting CrossFit?
I no longer dread the Lombard Blue Line exit, picking up my son is effortless (almost), I like the way I look
What was your first experience with CrossFit?
When my colleague Erika brought me to a Bring a Friend class about 3 months ago. It was the first time I felt welcomed and at home in a gym.
When did you start CF?
Why did you choose CF Spero?
CF Spero is at the end of my block. I have zero excuse not to come.
What keeps you coming back?
I love the positive energy of the other members!
Where do you live and why?
I live in Oak Park (because it’s close to everything I need in my life)
What do you do for a living?
I am a nursing professor who maintains street cred as a real nurse by continuing to practice as a family nurse practitioner at a federally qualified health center.
How do you like to spend your free time?
What do you like about Oak Park?
I love that Oak Park is a place where my righteous indignation over trivial matters seems normal.
What are one or two improvements you have seen in your life since starting CF?
The things that I carry (a child, a backpack, sacks of potatoes) suddenly feel lighter.
What are your CrossFit goals?
Do a box jump on something larger than the small box
What would you say to someone thinking about starting CF?
What are you waiting for?
What’s your favorite and least favorite CF movement?
Favorite: pushing that sled (turns out my lower half is surprisingly strong). Least favorite: overhead squats (I keep tipping over)
What’s your favorite meal?
Too many to list, but Lou Malnati’s Chicago Classic pizza is near the top.
