What was your workout routine prior to CF Spero? None
What is your greatest struggle with your fitness routine and how has Spero help you overcome it? I haven’t really had a fitness routine up to this point. I like riding my bike but other than that, I haven’t really done too much in terms of working out. Spero has been great in the sense that it has become my morning routine. The fact that every class is different and I am doing something new every day has really pushed me outside of my comfort zone. Honestly, I have no idea what I am doing most of the time, but all the coaches (and members) have been diligent in helping correct and push me during each class. One day I won’t need so much attention, I promise
What is the biggest change you’ve seen since starting at Spero? I can actually move around without feeling like I am going to fall apart. Up until recently, all my joints popped and creaked and it was a chore getting out of bed most days. Since starting Spero in April, I literally haven’t noticed any of that. It’s amazing how that works- all those years of people saying “if you exercise and stretch, you will have more energy and your body won’t hurt as bad”. Apparently they knew what they were talking about.
What was your first experience with CrossFit? When I joined Spero!
When did you start CF? In April of this year.
Why did you choose CF Spero? I’ve been driving by the gym on my way to and from work for some time now. I have always been interested in Crossfit, but I’ve been intimidated by the idea of it. After a surgery last year, I decided I wanted to introduce some form of a fitness routine into my life and Spero was the first place that came to mind. After meeting with Dave and talking about my goals, I was definitely sold.
What keeps you coming back? The coaches, the members, and the support. Because I am very new to this, I really like the rigid structure and I need to be pushed. If I was left on my own to work out, it wouldn’t happen. Case in point- the last 38 years of my life.
How do you like to spend your free time? I love to spend as much time with my wife and kids as possible and I really enjoy making movies.
What are one or two improvements you have seen in your life since starting CF? Way more energy throughout the day and I am definitely not as tired as I used to be.
What are your goals for 2019? I really want to get more fluent with my motions and form. I am still quite wonky when it comes to most of the workouts, but every day I get a smidge better. And hopefully sometime in the near future, I’ll be able to keep up with the rest of the class!
What would you say to someone thinking about starting CF? Do it and don’t think twice. It’s life changing.
What’s your favorite and least favorite CF movement?
Favorite: I really enjoy rowing.
