Persevere despite....
Consistency beats intensity every time.
Success is a matter of you showing up regularly doing the work.
Having the discipline to perform the habits that will move you towards your goals despite.......
Fitness, Diet, Wealth, Relationships, Careers, Faith.
They all are a matter of consistent practice.
Sometimes it is easy. Sometimes it is difficult.
YOU JUST HAVE TO KEEP SHOWING UP!
This doesn't mean 7 workout days a week. Never having the birthday cake. Or anything like that.
But our results are the sum of our actions.
And we are always training for something.
So if your reps are you sitting on the couch, binging on potato chips, you will get the results you train for.
If you off the couch moving your body and paying attention to what you feed yourself, you will also get the results you are training for.
It also means you can't sit on your ass all week, then hit the gym for a day or two and expect anything to really change.
It is much better if you get a little bit of movement in every day, rather than nothing at all.
The more disciplined you are, the less those slip ups where you fall off the wagon affect your progress.
When you do fall off the wagon, do some self reflection. Chalk it up for what it was and get back on track immediately.
Don't let one slip up turn into a weekend, which turns into a week, which turns into.....
That trend hits us all.
Be aware so you can avoid it when it comes.
One night out with the girls/boys? No problem.
Show up to the gym the next day, despite.......
This is what guarantees results when others languish.
They will let one setback throw them entirely off course. Maybe they view it as a "failure", that set back. Maybe they figured, hell I fell off so the rest of the day or the weekend is shot. Maybe the tweaked something during a workout, so they're going to take a few weeks off to let it heal. Life got in the way? Work, kids, vacation threw off the schedule.
"Failure" is just one step on the path to success.
All truly successful people realize this and EXPECT FAILURE.
They welcome it.
When it comes they reflect, learn, adapt, incorporate the lesson and move on.
The keep going despite.....
